Lesson
Forms of Motion
Linear/Translatory Motion
Motion along a line. All parts of the ‘system of interest’ move in the same direction at the same speed (eg a skater’s arms and body maintain their angles of orientation during forward translation)
RECTILINEAR – Linear/Translational Motion along a STRAIGHT LINE
CURVILINEAR – Linear/Translational Motion along a CURVED LINE
Angular Motion
Rotation around a central imaginary line – the AXIS of ROTATION, which is PERPENDICULAR to the PLANE of ROTATION
General Motion
Translation and Rotation combined (most human movement involves this type of motion)
Mechanical System of Interest
An object or group of objects to be studied for analytical purposes, eg.:
-Entire human body
-Trail Arm
-Golf Ball
